continues.IntheUnitedStates,theFoodandDrugAdministration(“FDA”)
andtheFederalCommunicationsCommission(“FCC”)setpoliciesand
proceduresforwirelessphones.TheFDAissuedawebsitepublicationon
healthissuesrelatedtocellphoneusagewhereitstates,“Thescientic
communityatlarge…believesthattheweightofscienticevidencedoes
notshowanassociationbetweenexposuretoradiofrequency(RF)fromcell
phonesandadversehealthoutcomes.Stillthescienticcommunitydoes
recommendconductingadditionalresearchtoaddressgapsinknowledge.

What does “SAR” mean?
In1996,theFCC,workingwiththeFDA,theU.S.EnvironmentalProtection
Agency,andotheragencies,establishedRFexposuresafetyguidelines
forwirelessphonesintheUnitedStates.Beforeawirelessphonemodel
isavailableforsaletothepublic,itmustbetestedbythemanufacturer
andcertiedtotheFCCthatitdoesnotexceedlimitsestablishedbythe
FCC.OneoftheselimitsisexpressedasaSpecicAbsorptionRate,or
“SAR.”SARisameasureoftherateofabsorptionofRFenergyinthe
